Best moqueca and pasta is at Mistura Fina
Ironically the best traditional moqueca in Salvador (and by inference the best in the world) is from a restaurant that doesn't specialize in regional Bahia cuisine. The moqueca served in Mistura Fina beats that of more specialized restaurants such as Yemanjá and Restaurante da Dadá.
Yesterday I went with friends to Mistura Fina, and we ordered the mariscada, which is a large mixed moqueca, with shrimp, soft-shell crab, octopus, fish and other types of seafood. The dish, which easily feeds six adults, was prepared perfectly, with each type of seafood cooked to the correct level of doneness. One common problem with other places such as Restaurante da Dadá is sloppy preparation resulting in overcooked ingredients.
Mistura Fina also has the best pasta in Salvador. Locals in Salvador tend to prefer Italian restaurants such as Cantina Cortille, which have a more Brazilian flavor in their food, but true Italians in Salvador (such as those working for Telecom Italia Mobile) have always favored Mistura Fina.

I agree with you. I frequently travel to Salvador for business and stay at the Sofitel. Mistura is just around the corner and the food is excellent. The appetizer bar is usually stocked with fresh seafood. The pastas are devine and they even have a children's menu.
I had dinner at Mistura Fina on my birthday this past February which also happend to be my first night in Salvador. It was walking distance from our house where we stayed. I enjoyed it but I think the Moqueca at Yemaja is definitely better. However, I will be returning. The food and ambiance there is great.
